Tools
Tools are capabilities that workspace bots and workflows can call to inspect context, transform files, query data, create artifacts, and connect external systems.
Tool Families
- Native tools operate directly on workspace artifacts, blobs, links, events, forms, channels, memory, and operations.
- Container-backed tools run heavier document, dataset, recording, forecasting, and optimization jobs.
- Dynamic Worker tools support workspace-defined compute capabilities.
- MCP-projected tools let compatible external servers expose capabilities to a workspace bot.
How To Choose A Tool
Start with the user task. If the task needs workspace data, use an artifact or search tool. If it needs file rendering or data processing, use a container-backed tool. If it needs an external system, use an MCP or configured integration tool. Review the operation timeline after any tool-backed work.
